ASAP launches industry awards at its 2013 conference

UK: The Association of Serviced Apartment Providers (ASAP) has launched three industry awards at its conference held this week.

A record attendance of 235 delegates were at the event in London. James Foice, ASAP managing director, said: “We are overwhelmed with the support we have been given at today’s event. This is the fourth ASAP Annual Serviced Apartment Conference and Exhibition which has been supported by more delegates and exhibitors than ever’.

Simon Calder, senior travel editor of The Independent delivered an opening address, and said: “It’s been a real privilege taking part in the ASAP Conference and meeting the teams that provide great value to the guest, and offer a compelling alternative to hotels.”

The event started with the first ASAP awards dinner. The winners were:
• Most Innovative Service Apartment Operator: winner: SACO The Serviced Apartment Company, highly commended: Birchover Hotel Apartments

• Best Service and Hospitality Experience: winner: Marlin Apartments, highly commended: SACO The Serviced Apartment Company

• Outstanding Individual: winner: Geoff Bailey – Your Space Serviced Apartments highly commended:  Sherry Humphreys – Deep Blue Apartments

ASAP also announced the launch of its Quality Assurance Programme which will be introduced in the New Year and is an on-going mechanism for review. Every operator displaying an ASAP quality marque will be assessed on an annual and on-going basis to ensure legal compliance and offered a detailed statistical report intended to support continuous improvement of their business.

ASAP said its membership has grown to 70 serviced apartment operators, an increase of over 30 per cent in 2013 and now represents more than 13,000 properties throughout the UK and Ireland.
