UK: Hospitality industry analyst STR Global is taking on the data-collection aspects of ASAP’s current serviced-apartment survey.
The Association of Serviced Apartment Providers (ASAP) has been collecting performance data, including occupancy, average daily rate and revenue per available room, for a number of years on a quarterly basis, focusing on London and the UK regions.
Elizabeth Winkle, managing director of STR Global, said: “We are looking forward to growing our data collection in this segment. STR Global is interested in all aspects of the hospitality industry, and serviced apartments are an integral part of this industry. We are happy to be collecting and reporting data on this important and growing segment”.
The partnership will allow operators to look at performance across a number of key cities in the UK and provide them with more actionable reports. The reports, previously distributed on a quarterly basis, will now be available to data providers on a monthly basis.
James Foice, managing director of ASAP, said: “This is a pivotal period in the development of the serviced-apartment sector in the UK, and I am delighted STR Global is able to support our objective of greater industry recognition. Our membership base has grown by 35 percent over the last nine months, and this is a reflection of the interest and opportunity in this rapidly evolving industry. This partnership will provide legitimacy and gravitas to the data we have been collating and will further benefit the support we offer our members and the industry as a whole. We are very excited to be working with STR Global as we move into the next phase of this truly dynamic industry”.
Joe Stather of STR Global will be presenting a report on the European serviced apartment sector at the 2014 Serviced Apartment Summit in July.
