UK: Serviced living consultancy Saxbury has named Andrew Shaw to lead its development advisory for aparthotel projects.
Shaw joins Saxbury from Fattal Hotel Group where he spent six years as head of development for Leonardo Hotels.
Prior to this, he held franchising roles at InterContinental Hotels Group and spent nearly a decade at Accor as vice president of development for UK and Ireland.
Under his leadership, Saxbury’s development consultancy will cover services from feasibility and funding to exit, supporting both developers and landlords.
Shaw said: “I’ve been in and around hotels all my career, meaning I’ve worked from all sides of the table on all angles of the deal. Given our shared synergies, I’m excited to join Saxbury. As a team, we collectively cover every element of the development sphere, and I’m looking forward to helping widen our profile as specialists in the sector.”
Ben Davis, leasing director at Saxbury, said: “We’ve always tailored our development advisory services to deliver targeted outcomes for our clients, whether that involved operator search and selection or site disposal. With Andrew joining the team, we’re excited to relaunch development advisory as a standalone service.
“While clients may recognise the significant planning benefits of converting [office] assets into hotels, without a solid understanding of the fundamentals of hotel development, they may struggle to accurately assess the potential risks and rewards. As retained advisors, we offer independent, expert guidance to ensure clients can navigate these complexities and make informed decisions,” he added.
