UK: Plans for a seven storey aparthotel in Glasgow’s West End have been rejected by the city council.
CMM Architects had submitted a proposal for 77 serviced apartments and a ground floor cafe at 127 Fergus Drive, off Queen Margaret Drive.
Glasgow City Council turned down the application saying the building was not compatible with the local plan, there was no consideration given to parking and the location and height would compromise the privacy of residents.
The plans received more than 400 objections from local residents and councillors.
John Hancox of campaign group MUCHTOOBIG said: “We are delighted that the planning department have rejected the proposal which was for a seven-storey monster of a building which would have damaged a much loved residential neighbourhood in the west end of Glasgow. Given that pre-application advice had been sought from planning it is baffling why the developers thought it worthwhile to make an application which disregarded so many city Council and planning policies and guidelines.”</p
