Netherlands: Staycity Group has opened the 120-key Wilde Amsterdam aparthotel within Union Investment’s YVIE mixed-use development in Amsterdam-Noord.

The opening marks Staycity’s entry into the Netherlands and operates under a 25-year lease with Union Investment.

Wilde Amsterdam occupies floors three to 10 of YVIE’s 31-storey residential tower and covers approximately 7,000 square metres. The property offers a combination of studios and apartments for up to four guests.

The aparthotel has been designed specifically for stays of at least seven nights, targeting business travellers, relocating professionals and leisure guests requiring extended accommodation.

Each apartment includes a fully equipped kitchen. Shared facilities include Oscar’s café and bar, a self-service deli, communal living and working areas, fitness facilities and an outdoor terrace.

Studio Barba Mendoza designed the interiors, with the property overlooking the River IJ.

Rob de Ridder, general manager of Wilde Amsterdam, said: “Our entry into the Dutch market with Wilde Amsterdam reflects this evolution. Travellers today are looking for more than just a place to sleep. They want flexibility, community and the comforts of home combined with hotel-level service, whether they are staying for a week, a month or longer.”

The opening expands the existing relationship between Staycity and Union Investment. Staycity has operated Wilde Aldgate at Union Investment’s Commercial Road property in London since 2021.

Thorsten Purkus, head of asset management hospitality at Union Investment, said: “We believe in the resilience of this successful asset class and are delighted to deepen our partnership with Staycity Group.”

YVIE was completed between 2024 and 2025 in Amsterdam’s Overhoeks district. In addition to the aparthotel, the residential tower contains 176 apartments, which Union Investment said are almost fully let.

Union Investment acquired the development in 2019 for its open-ended real estate fund UniImmo: Europa.
