Australia: LiveStay will begin construction of Punthill Oakleigh Central, a 55-key apartment hotel in southeastern Melbourne.

The hotel is located at 45-49 Portman Street and is LiveStay’s second Punthill property in Oakleigh. It is being developed by BNG Group with construction being delivered by Jardon Group. Demolition works are already underway, and Punthill Oakleigh Central is expected to open in 2028.

The property will offer 55 apartment-style rooms, including 38 studios, 14 one-bedroom apartments and three two-bedroom apartments with DDA-accessible rooms also available.

Located near the Monash National Employment and Innovation Cluster (MNEIC) — one of Australia’s greatest concentrations of employment, education, healthcare, research and technology — Punthill Oakleigh Central reinforces LiveStay’s strategy for expanding its Punthill portfolio into markets with strong demand from corporate, project and extended-stay guests.

“The commencement of Punthill Oakleigh Central is particularly exciting for us as it will be our second Punthill property in Oakleigh,” LiveStay’s CEO Zed Sanjana said. “That is a strong endorsement of the location and our confidence in the demand for high-quality, flexible accommodation in this part of Melbourne.”

Punthill Oakleigh Central will cater to a variety of guests, with a particular focus on corporate, project and extended-stay demand. Additionally, its mix of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments will also appeal to short-stay guests, such as people visiting their friends and families and those who travel to the area for university, medical appointments, shopping and events.

The property will be located near Eaton Mall, as well as Oakleigh Railway Station and Chadstone shopping precinct, giving guests easy access to Oakleigh’s shopping and dining venues.

Guests will also have convenient access to Monash University’s Clayton campus, Monash Medical Centre, CSIRO’s Clayton facilities and the wider Clayton business and research precinct. Likewise, the property’s location provides easy access to Melbourne CBD, Chadstone, Clayton and Dandenong.

“We are pleased to be working with LiveStay to deliver Punthill Oakleigh Central and to contribute to the continued growth of Oakleigh,” Richard Han, BNG Group’s managing director said. “The project will provide a high-quality accommodation option for the many business, project and leisure visitors coming to this part of Melbourne’s south-east.”

The new property will add to LiveStay’s existing Punthill establishment in Oakleigh to provide additional accommodation.

“Having a second Punthill property in Oakleigh gives us an opportunity to build on our presence in the area and continue delivering the flexible, apartment-style accommodation that our guests value. We look forward to welcoming guests when Punthill Oakleigh Central opens in 2028,” Sanjana said.
