Australia: Quest Apartment Hotels has lodged an application for the construction of an eight-storey development in the Sydney suburb of Parramatta.

The proposed site, which Quest will operate, has its main street frontage to Victoria Road, and if approved will feature 39 studio and one-bedroom units, café, bar, meeting room, offices, lobby and valet parking services.

The proposal also includes two levels of basement car parking, with a car lift providing access to Palmer Lane at the rear of the site.

The application comes as Parramatta is undergoing a major transition from low to medium rise to high-rise mixed use development as a result of increasing population and investment.

The biggest indication of Parramatta’s growing prominence was the recent announcement of the $20 billion plan to transform Western Sydney. This includes a new airport, an aerospace institute, North-South rail link and other infrastructure plans that will cater for the region’s population growth, which is expected to reach three million by the early 2030s.
