UK: Serviced apartment agent SilverDoor has launched an initiative to allow customers to offset their carbon foortrpint when booking accommodation.

SilverDoor has partnered with Trees4Travel to provide its customers with “a simple, tangible and inexpensive option to offset their carbon footprint through the planting of indigenous trees and reforestation”.

It will offer clients a dashboard to calculate the carbon cost of their journeys. Included is the carbon impact of their accommodation and transport. The dashboard translates the CO2 sum into saplings required to offset over ten years. To further reinforce its commitment to climate protection, for every tree a customer plants, SilverDoor will plant a second tree in their name.

SilverDoor’s Stuart Winstone said: “We work for some of the most environmentally-conscious clients around the world who are acutely aware of the impact that their travel has on the planet.” He continued: “Mindful travel is no longer a pleasant ‘added extra’ but an essential element of any journey planning in 2021. It is imperative that SilverDoor continues to offer the most innovative and impactful solutions to our clients when they book with us and sustainable travel ensures all our futures”.

Nico Nicholas, CEO at Trees4Travel said: “Our technology will enhance SilverDoor’s reporting with our own carbon auditing, offset updates, and forecasting technology. We are proud and delighted to welcome this accommodation Titan to our rapidly growing client base of climate-active companies.”</p
