As we continue to make preparations for the first Serviced Apartment Summit MEA conference in Dubai, it’s been fascinating to see how the Middle East is at the forefront of the increasingly blurred lines between once-distinct sectors of the hospitality industry.

Serviced apartments and residential real estate investment plays overlap with the hugely successful and established branded residence market in the UAE, but there are other interesting developments afoot in the MEA region.

IFA’s Yotel brand, for example, will include 127 serviced apartments in its 42-storey “cabin” development on Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road when it opens in 2018.

Millennium & Copthorne Hotels is entering in to the serviced apartment sector with its first Millennium Executive Apartments in Muscat.

And Aparthotels Adagio – the JV between Accor and Pierre & Vacances – has introduced a Premium serviced apartment brandfor the Middle East, with the first two developments in Dubai’s Al Barsha and Doha’s West Bay.

These are just three of many innovative projects taking shape in the Middle East, with the promise of many more to come.
