Finland: Forenom will add 369 units to its portfolio with the addition of aparthotels in Oslo and Stockholm.
Forenom is the Nordic countries’ largest provider of serviced accommodation. In summer 2018 it will open a 163-room aparthotel in a major project by developer Skanska, 200 metres from Oslo’s main railway station.
“At the moment there is office space in the property, but we see potential in the building for this new intended use. We found a very interesting operator via Skanska’s global network, Forenom, which will be opening an apartment hotel in the building. We believe Forenom will provide a really good supplement to the existing accommodation market in Oslo,” said Vidar Stokkeland, director at Skanska Property Development.
Jussi Saarinen, director of international business at Forenom, said: “Every apartment hotel has the homely facilities, such as a kitchens and a washing machines, as well as space to relax and work. An apartment hotel is suitable for a day or a week, but also for several months’ accommodation. Our Nordic capitals, Stockholm and Oslo, definitely need a new type of capacity alongside the traditional hotel options. Now it is also possible in Oslo to choose accommodation with a sense of home away from home instead of a hotel, and be twice as satisfied.”
