US: A 22-storey dual-branded hotel project on the top four floors of the EpiCentre in Charlotte, NC, had its topping out ceremony this week.
Vision Ventures and McKibbon Hospitality is developing two Marriott properties at the project: a 184-room AC Hotel and a 116-room Residence Inn, both of which will open in early 2018.
The AC Hotel will occupy floors five to 12, and the Residence Inn will be on floors 14 to 21.
Erik Rowen, McKibbon vice president of development, said: “The hotels serve two different needs: the extended-stay side of things and also more of the transient guests. We tried to do that because they don’t compete as much with each other. Even the style of these two hotels are different; the market and demographics are a little bit different, too.”
There will be some shared amenities, including 2,400 square feet of meeting space, a fitness facility on the seventh floor, a dog walk on the eighth floor and common areas throughout.
The Residence Inn will include its own dining room with daily breakfast and a social hour four nights a week.
