UK: Roomzzz Aparthotels has appointed Mark Walton as chief operating officer.

During a 20-year career, Walton has opened and managed more than 19 addresses, across the UK, Europe and Middle East, from flagship, 400-room airport properties to the Roomzzz aparthotel concept.

He joined Roomzzz in 2005 and opened the first two aparthotels before joining the Easy group to help roll out the Easy hotel chain across Europe and Dubai. He rejoined Roomzzz three years later to help facilitate expansion plans with the aim of having 1000 keys across the UK by the end of 2017.

Naveen Ahmed, CEO of Roomzzz, said: “To coincide with growing business opportunities and development of the Roomzzz brand, we decided to change Mark’s role to chief operating officer. This new role will play to his strengths of leadership and will help to drive the business forward with our expansion plans. Mark has demonstrated time and time again through sheer hard work, that he is brilliant operationally, an expert at opening new properties and runs a tight ship, which helps to increase turnovers and deliver increased occupancy rates.”

Walton said: “I’m delighted with my new role and cannot wait to implement further changes that will help drive the Roomzzz brand and business forward in the UK and international markets. We have five new hotels planned for the next 18 months, which will be a huge challenge but also very rewarding for myself and the brand.”
