UK: Epic Liverpool has submitted a planning application for an aparthotel on Liverpool’s Duke Street.

The company is proposing to transform three vacant commercial buildings into a 21-bed complex with retail or leisure units on the ground floor.

The building in question, 151-155 Duke Street, is a former terrace of Georgian houses which was decorated with Chinese-themed artwork as part of an initiative to improve the Ropewalks and Chinatown areas.

A statement issued to the council said: “The site lies within the Ropewalks regeneration zone in Liverpool city centre, along Duke Street and adjacent to Liverpool ONE shopping centre and within walking distance of Liverpool docks. The site is highly sustainable, as it is within walking distance of surrounding shops, local amenities, bars and restaurants. The existing buildings are currently vacant and most of the windows are boarded. The interior has been stripped out to structure and all three buildings are internally connected.”

Epic Liverpool operates aparthotels at 75 Duke Street, Seel Street and Campbell Street.</p
