UK: Extended stay hotel operator Cycas Hospitality has been awarded the title of Best Employer at The Cateys 2018.
Cycas was one of four companies shortlisted for the Best Employer Catey award after being identified in April as one of the 30 Best Places to Work in Hospitality 2018.
It was named Best Employer at London’s Grosvenor House in front of an audience of 1,250 industry figures. With 85 per cent of respondents to the Best Places to Work survey saying they would recommend Cycas Hospitality as a great place to work – a figure backed up by its 98 per cent retention figure over the last year – judges praised the company for having “a different way of looking at people development”.
They also highlighted Cycas’s “brave steps to create a modern approach with a great sense of engagement” and commended the organisation for putting its “Cycadettes at the heart of the business”.
John Wagner, CEO of Cycas Hospitality, said: “When we founded Cycas Hospitality a decade ago, we wanted to make our hotels the best places to work, as well as stay. To have been recognised by senior hospitality figures in our 10th anniversary year for our efforts to become the industry’s best employer is an absolute honour. At Cycas we always say our job isn’t over until we get a smile. So, with judges singling us out for our approach to employee engagement, there’s no doubt that we’ve got lots to smile and be proud about.”
Janet Roberts, Cycas Hospitality’s lead culture coach, said: “As a people business, our Cycadettes are absolutely vital to making Cycas a commercial success. By ensuring we’re doing everything possible as employers to create a culture that inspires our talented employees to bring their best selves to work, we’re confident we can continue to inject our distinctive ‘positively outrageous service’ into every guest stay.”
