Philipson joins Cheval as operations director

UK: London-based operator Cheval Residences has appointed John Philipson as operations director.

Philipson will be “dedicated to offering outstanding service to guests across the portfolio of five-star residences”.

Prior to joining Cheval Residences, Philipson, who has more than 20 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, held several senior positions at Six Senses Hotels, Resorts & Spas; Rocco Forte Hotels and MacDonald Hotels & Resorts.

In his role as VP operations for Six Senses, Philipson was responsible for spearheading the performance of properties in Thailand, Vietnam, China, Seychelles, Maldives, Portugal Jordan and Oman, with a focus on profitability, reputation and overall product and service quality. Prior to joining Cheval Residences, Philipson was regional managing director of Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, spearheading the performance and refurbishment of The Berystede, The Compleat Angler, Macdonald Windsor and Frimley Hall Hotels. He managed the financial, sales and marketing and operational performance of these conference and leisure hotels to ensure they were leading the competitive set.
