UK: Adagio has unveiled the location of its new aparthotel in Glasgow, which will open on December 1st.

Adagio Glasgow Central is located in the heart of Glasgow, close to the business centre and on the banks of the River Clyde. Both Glasgow Central station and St Enoch’s underground station are within five minutes walk.

The contemporary building has been inspired by Glasgow’s industrial history. The design will reference the industrial might of the Glasgow shipbuilders, whilst paying tribute to the playful tourism trade.

The aparthotel will offer 162 apartments, and a gym, library and laundry facilities, as well as being a pet friendly place.

The aparthotel also aims to reflect the city’s artistic history and will collaborate with final year students from the prestigious BA (Hons) Textile Design course at The Glasgow School of Art.

Students will create their own version of the pioneering Glaswegian designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s iconic rose, adopted by the city. Three winning designs will be selected and displayed within the aparthotel.

Adagio is now present in 14 different countries, and the opening of Adagio Glasgow Central will be the brand’s 8th property in the UK, and its second venture in Scotland, following the Adagio Royal Mile in Edinburgh.

Earlier this year SAN reported Adagio aims to double its portfolio by 2025.
