UK: Andras House has submitted a new proposal to develop the 10-storey Dorchester House in Belfast into an Adagio aparthotel.
Development company Andras House acquired Dorchester House in 2020 with backing from Danske Bank.
Initial plans included transforming the building into office space, increasing the building’s footprint to around 61,000 square feet with two additional floors being added.
Now, managing director of Andras House, Rajesh Rana, has revised plans for the site. A new proposal calls for an aparthotel development with a ground floor café and additional floors at the top of the building, according to Ulster Business.
If planning permission is granted, the project would be branded under Adagio, part of Accor, and would mark the first Adagio property in Northern Ireland.
Rana said: “The new proposed property will be an aparthotel under the Adagio brand, which is part of the Accor Hotels group. It will have approximately 130 serviced apartments with studios, one-bedroom apartments and an innovative ‘co-living’ concept suitable for corporate groups, where a group of four bedrooms are clustered around a living area. We hope to be on site in early 2024.”
Planning consultancy Clyde Shanks advised Andras House on the potential new plans for the scheme.
Andras House was established in 1981 and is based in Belfast. The group’s portfolio spans 1000 bedrooms including other serviced apartment buildings. These include Cordia Serviced Apartments (Belfast) and a project in Portrush which is expected to open this summer.
