UK: Plans have been approved for an aparthotel in Birmingham city centre following a change of use plan for a 19th century Grade II building.
Plans for an aparthotel with an 11 storey new build attached, include a renovation of the current buildings at 153-156 Corporation Street.
The property will have 156 rooms in total and offer guests a gym, restaurant, meeting rooms and bar as well as a laundrette.
The hotel will be close to Birmingham Crown Court as well as the magistrates courts, West Midlands Police and Fire Services and Birmingham Childrens’ Hospital.
The closest train station is Moore Street although it’s only a short walk to the Bullring Shopping Centre and the city’s main train station at New Street.
The renovations will include new shop fronts and entrance doors, and repairs will be made to the original terracotta brickwork and roof. Original features such as chimney-pieces, cornices, and doors will replace any modern fixtures currently on the buildings.
Birmingham recently approved plans for another aparthotel in the city centre.
