UK: An updated proposal for a hotel and aparthotel development in Belfast’s Titanic has been granted planning consent.

Developer JMK Group and planning consultancy Turley sought permission for the scheme on a site off Queens Road, directly south of Titanic Belfast and north-west of Hamilton Dock.

A development incorporating 162 hotel beds and 94 aparthotel beds is proposed, alongside conference facilities, a restaurant and bar, a roof top venue, a gym, landscaped public realm, car and cycle parking and road works.

Approval was granted in 2020 for a 276-bed hotel, establishing the principle of development and a hotel use at this location.

The current application has been updated to respond to market conditions and introduces the aparthotel element.

The £36 million GDV project will create around 620 construction jobs and 70 operational roles when the property is open.

The site will be JMK Group’s first location in Northern Ireland. The company’s current portfolio in Ireland includes Holiday Inn Dublin Airport, Holiday Inn Express Dublin City Centre, Waterford Marina Hotel and Hampton by Hilton Dublin City Centre.

An Adagio access aparthotel in Cork is also in the pipeline.
