NEW ZEALAND: Historic Wellington hotel to be developed into aparthotel
The development of the new eight-storey property in Wellington, Mt Cook, will replace the original Adelaide Hotel on the site.
The Adeleide Hotel, which was built in 1899 has fallen into disrepair and has been vacant since 2008.
Lakhi Maa property company plans to create 40 one and two-bedroom serviced apartments, with a bar and restaurant on the ground floor.
The new hotel will be set back from the facade, which was noted as an important heritage feature.
The aparthotel is located next to Wellington Hospital.
Wellington welcomed another extended stay option in 2019 when Oaks Hotels & Resorts opened its first aparthotel in the city.
