UK: Frasers Hospitality UK has announced it will be providing free period products for guests and staff in a first for the sector.
Frasers Hospitality UK has teamed up with sister hotel brands Malmaison and Hotel du Vin to offer the free Freda products in rooms and toilets.
This initiative makes Malmaison, Hotel du Vin and Frasers Hospitality the first nationwide accommodation providers in the UK to provide free period products to guests, in addition to their existing in-room amenities, without guests having to ask for them.
Freda’s products are now accessible in guest rooms across six Frasers Hospitality properties within the UK (and 17 Malmaison and 19 Hotel du Vin properties).
The complimentary Freda kits will contain a pad and tampon alongside the brand’s other amenities including premium brand refillable toiletries which are re-stocked after each stay. This initiative ensures that essential period care products are there when guests need them the most.
Guus Bakker, CEO EMEA at Frasers Hospitality said: “Offering Freda’s sustainable period products as a standard amenity across our hotel residences; Capri by Fraser and serviced apartments; Fraser Suites, Fraser Residence and Fraser Place, is a bold step forward by Frasers Hospitality to ensure everyone feels looked after during their stay.”
The Freda brand is dedicated to normalising periods, combating period poverty, and championing period inclusivity in a sustainable and responsible manner. Freda’s period care products are responsibly made in eco-certified facilities in Sweden using 100 per cent renewable energy with zero waste sent to landfill. Freda also donates a portion of its profits to initiatives dedicated to ending period poverty.
Bakker added: “Frasers Hospitality are proud to partner with Freda as their sustainable practices align perfectly with our own drive towards achieving net zero operations by 2050, part of which is ensuring that our guest experiences are as green as possible.”
Freda’s founder Afsaneh Parvizi-Wayne said: “We’re pleased to partner with Malmaison, Hotel du Vin and Frasers Hospitality to elevate their sustainable amenity offering. We understand that periods are notoriously bad timekeepers, so guests won’t always arrive prepared. Through this partnership we’ll ensure that nobody is caught short or suffers anxiety or embarrassment around menstruating while staying with Malmaison, Hotel du Vin, and Frasers Hospitality properties.”
