INDIA: Travel tech startup Bag2Bag has unveiled its new website offering more accommodation options for extended stay travellers.

The company, which initially targeted short stays with its pay per use model (including hourly stays), served as a boon for frequent business travellers, medical travellers, layovers or those in transit, but has now diversified into extended stay.

Focusing largely on homestays, serviced apartments, and hostels, the new website displays negotiated prices on a weekly stay and monthly stay basis.

CEO Alok Mishira said: “We have observed remarkable growth in our short stay segment targeting pay by hour bookings, and the extended stay segment which has now evolved with recent additions of hotels, homestays and many more. In the near future, we want to focus on building experiences for our users, especially via homestays in tourist hotspots, unexplored hidden gems of India in tier two and tier three cities. This will create a symbiotic relationship providing an earthy rural experience for curious travellers wishing to escape the hustle and bustle of city life while generating a lucrative source of income for homestay owners.”

Incorporated in August 2019, Bag2Bag offers its services in more than 100 cities in India with more than 4,000 properties.

The new website will also offer the choice of looking at venue menus and other offerings for F&B at selected properties. The website aims to allow its users to explore the fun activities, adventure spots and local restaurants and bars, and book their stay based on nearby activities that they want to enjoy.

SAN also reported other news from India recently, with Wyndham increasing its portfolio on the continent.
