UK: Plans have been revealed for an aparthotel at the site of a former listed church building in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.
The former St Vincent church on South View Road was destroyed by a fire in 2008, and has now been demolished with consent from Sheffield City Council and English Heritage, leaving a vacant site at the corner location.
Archetype Associates, acting on behalf of freehold owner Shalimar Global, has submitted outline plans for the development of a 70-unit aparthotel, with on-site bike storage and parking.
While the church has been demolished, efforts are being made to retain the remaining boundary wall and gates which fall within the curtilage of the site and are grade II-listed, although new wall openings are required for pedestrian and vehicle entrance.</p
