UK: PMI Developments and Peveril Securities have been granted planning approval for an 18-storey aparthotel in Glasgow city centre.

Designed by architecture studio HAUS Collective, the aparthotel will feature 161 units, a lounge, bar, staff offices, and laundry facilities. It will replace a vacant building located at the intersection of Cambridge Street and Renfrew Street.

The exterior of the building will be “designed to complement neighbouring buildings through thoughtful design and material choices,” said HAUS. A chevron window design will be used along the ground and upper floors, and an outdoor patio will be added on the sixth floor roof.

HAUS co-founder Murray Henderson said: “Our commitment to excellence and contemporary design is evident in this aparthotel, which has been recognised by planners for its ‘bold, modern and refined architectural response’ in a previously overlooked area.

“The positive reception from Glasgow City Council’s planning committee is a testament to our team’s dedication and expertise. Working with PMI Developments and Peveril Securities has been a pleasure, and we look forward to bringing this project to life.”

Nigel Jones, director at PMI Developments, said: “It’s fantastic to see such great design recognised by the planning committee. This development will bring much-needed investment to the Sauchiehall Street area. We have had a positive working relationship with Glasgow City Council, who have been proactive throughout the planning process.”

Chris Kirkland, director at Peveril Securities, added: “This aparthotel will bolster Glasgow’s tourism, providing additional high-quality accommodation and will attract more visitors to this premier shopping area.”
