The Netherlands: Hospitality operator The Ascott Limited has opened the second Citadines-branded aparthotel located in Amsterdam.
The property – 17th-century weaver’s houses known as the Noordse Bos – was acquired by Ascott Serviced Residence Global Fund (ASRGF). It is located in the centre of the Weteringbuurt between the Spiegelgracht and Reguliersgracht.
Hilary Lancaster of design studio FIG oversaw the project, renovating the site and rebranding it as Citadines Canal Amsterdam. It features 93 rooms and apartments, a fitness centre, lounge and honesty bar, as well as car parking with electric charging points.
Rob Broer, residence manager of Citadines Canal, said: “We are proud to represent our international brand with this new addition in Amsterdam. The aparthotel, which exudes the atmosphere of the weaver’s houses thanks to its beautiful design, will meet all the needs of our guests, whether they are visiting Amsterdam for business or leisure.”
Frédéric Carré, regional general manager UK, Germany, Belgium, Georgia, Spain and The Netherlands, The Ascott, added: “Amsterdam is an attractive location for us, due to its excellent connections with the rest of Europe and the highly educated and skilled workforce that the Netherlands is known for. The brand-new Citadines Canal Amsterdam is a welcome addition to our global portfolio.”
It marks the second Citadines-branded property to open in Amsterdam, joining Citadines Amsterdam Sloterdijk.
