UK: Galliard Homes and Acorn Property Group have received planning consent to build an £80 million residential and aparthotel scheme in Bermondsey.

The Newhams Yard scheme will be built at 151-157 Tower Bridge Road and consist of three buildings of up to 10 storeys with retail and restaurants on the ground floor. The plans provide for 86 luxury apartments, and a 143-key Locke aparthotel. The first phase of apartments is due to be completed next summer.

David Galman, sales director at Galliard Homes, said: “Galliard Homes are delighted with the decision made by Southwark Council granting planning permission for our new scheme Newhams Yard. The scheme is in a prominent position providing easy access to Tanner Street and Bermondsey Street and is immersed within the vibrant local Bermondsey community. The scheme will create a new communal hub for the local area with a variety of cafes, restaurants and retail opportunities which we anticipate will be very popular with local residents. We look forward to bringing our plans for stylish homes at Newhams Yard to life.”

Melanie Omirou, executive group managing director and funding director at Acorn Property Group, commented: “Acorn Property Group and Galliard Homes have a strong portfolio of chic, high-quality developments in particular across South London that have proven very popular with buyers. Following the positive decision to grant planning permission for Newhams Yard, we look forward to bringing another exceptional scheme to buyers.”
