Kenya: CityBlue Hotels has announced its latest project in Kenya, an internationally branded aparthotel.

Skynest Residences will be the brand’s first move into Kenya’s capital, and their second in the country overall, and will be built in the heart of the new Westlands business district.

The 235 story property will be developed by local development group Elegant Properties, who’ve been at the forefront of development in the capital, with a variety of hospitality projects under their belts. Amjad Rahim, CEO of Elegant said: “We are now partnered with Accor for Pullman Hotel and CityBlue for Skynest Residences. So we believe that the next decade is the era for branded hospitality properties.”

The property will have 247 serviced and furnished apartments with configurations that include up to three bedrooms. It will also have a focus on sustainability, having met Green building society standards due to its construction from eco-friendly and non-polluting materials.

Jamal Verjee, CityBlue CEO and founder said: “The product will be particularly appealing to medium and long-stay guests but equally to overnighters when it opens by the end of the year. We truly hope that this knits together the CityBlue brand across all major East African hubs, as we now operate in all its capitals and major cities”.

Kenya is a popular spot for serviced apartment investment. Avani announced their Kenyan debut in January, with Kenyan investment firm Cytonn doing the same in November.

CityBlue is hoping to provide an alternative to many of the other aparthotel providers in the city. With its unique branded residence style in the heart of Nairobi’s entertainment district, this property hopes to bring CityBlue’s strong background to the Kenyan city.  </p
