UK: Robertson Properties Ltd has been granted consent from North East Lincolnshire Council to transform two derelict residential homes in Cleethorpes into aparthotels.

Robertson Properties purchased four adjacent sites last year with permission now granted to convert 49-51 Isaac’s Hill into aparthotels.

Plans include transforming the four-bedroom property at number 49 into a six-bedroom aparthotel.

The design and access statement, submitted by Building Planning Services Ltd, read: “When the first unit is up and running, a local cleaning company will be employed to ensure all rooms are cleaned to an exceptional standard before stays, and mid-clean stays for longer term guests.

“The intention is to employ a minimum of one full-time cleaner depending on the workload and will increase this during busy periods. There will be a part-time manager/handy man on site part of everyday who will ensure that any repairs needed are carried out immediately and meet and greet guests.

“There will be installed “Minut alarms” (sound sensor) placed in all the rooms… Whilst the guest is staying with us, communication will be via email or WhatsApp and anything that needs to be dealt with immediately will be forwarded to our part-time manager.

“On check out day, we will email them to ensure their stay was to their satisfaction to encourage them to return to our venue for their next stay.”

The four-bedroom property at number 51 will also be converted into a six-bedroom aparthotel.

The design and access statement read: “The owner will advertise rooms on Booking.com and Airbnb, as well as reaching out to Orsted and the oil refineries in Immingham for any contractors that will be needing short term accommodation, the hospital accommodation department in case there are any visiting doctors or specialist nurses, as well as being available for any out of area contractors for all the proposed local development of Cleethorpes and Grimsby.

“There will also be dedicated website ready for bookings and the owners will be talking to local residences and businesses to encourage word of mouth recommendations.

“As catering will not be offered on site, contact will be made with local independent catering businesses that serve breakfasts and dinners to see if a collaboration can be made to encourage our guests to eat locally and support the NE Lincs economy.”

Some neighbour objections were raised to the scheme, mostly concerning parking space. Instead there will be a drop-off and pick-up zone only, with separate entrance and exit ways.

“We are both ecstatic and relieved with the outcome and are looking forward to restoring the properties into modern aparthotels,” said Natalie and James D’Souza, directors of Robertson Properties Ltd.

“Work will be commencing soon and we hope to have the first unit open and operating in the coming months. We’re pleased the council were able to see and believe in our vision for these properties and we hope they will be an asset to the region for years to come,” they added.
