Belgium: Cycas Hospitality will operate the first internationally-branded extended stay hotel in Belgium, when a 127-key residence Inn opens in Brussels, in 2020.
Cycas has signed a lease agreement with the property owner Candor, to operate the hotel, which will be located within walking distance of the new NATO headquarters, close to Brussels International Airport.
The seven-floor hotel will incorporate on-site parking, lounge, gym space and laundry facilities, and benefits from easy access to the centre of Brussels. Developed by La Strelizia BV, a subsidiary of the Brussels Project, the hotel is due to open in spring 2020.
Asli Kutlucan, senior partner development and acquisitions at Cycas Hospitality, said: “This signing represents a significant milestone in Cycas’s European expansion journey. Not only is it our first deal in Belgium but it also represents the fifth Residence Inn in Cycas’s portfolio and our second in the Benelux region, ensuring we’re on track to achieve our target of having more than 10,000 guest rooms within our portfolio by 2022.”
“The hotel’s location within walking distance from Brussels’ new NATO HQ and moments from many blue-chip corporate companies makes this a fantastic opportunity for us to bridge the gap between hotels and home for business travellers and project workers, so we are excited to be introducing the branded extended-stay concept to this area. We’re delighted to be working with Candor to bring Marriott’s Residence Inn brand to Belgium and give travellers to the city an alternative way to stay.”
Jan Vlaminck, director development, hotels, student & senior housing, at Candor, said: “Brussels is a leading international business city with a large international community and significant demand for the hospitality sector. Cycas has an enviable track record of managing extended stay as well as traditional hotels, so we are pleased to be partnering with them and look forward to working together to bring the first extended-stay hotel to Brussels International Airport.”</p
