UK: Supercity Aparthotels has appointed Dean Madge, the former general manager of Cheval Three Quays, as managing director.

Madge joins the company as it prepares for the launch of two new locations in the next 18 months.

Madge is charged with “driving the ongoing success and growth of the company and ensuring all aspects of the business are operating effectively”.

His initial tasks will be to support and coach the existing teams, to prepare the business for growth – from 91 units to 203 in the next 18 months, and to focus on the strategy for 2017/18.

With more than 25 years hospitality experience, Madge was a general manager at Malmaison before his spell with Cheval Residences.

He said: “I am delighted to be joining the team at Supercity at such an exciting time. This, alongside the team’s innovative approach, plus the individuality of each location drew me to the role. I look forward to expanding on the great achievements by the team, whilst leading the Supercity brand to excel in key areas including service, consistency, innovation and as an employer of choice. At a time when the apartment sector is enjoying great recognition with many guests choosing this type of accommodation over a traditional hotel, we are perfectly placed to exceed and delight those we welcome.”

Alexis Burton of Supercity said: “Dean’s experience makes him the perfect candidate to navigate this sector and he will play a pivotal role as we take the next steps in our growth. We are very excited to have Dean on board and have every confidence that he will increase the profile of Supercity Aparthotels and our place within this vibrant sector.”

Supercity operates three London aparthotels – The Rosebery in Clerkenwell and two Earls Court properties; Templeton Place and Nevern Place. New openings for 2017/18 include sites in Brighton and Furnival Street, London.
