US: New York-based apartment-hotel hospitality company Domio has announced it has appointed Brian Quinn as its first-ever chief development officer.
Quinn has spent his entire career in hospitality, most recently serving as SVP of Development at Choice Hotels International, where he contributed to significant growth in its domestic pipeline to over 1,000 hotels — the largest in the company’s history. He was also directly responsible for the success of the Emerging Markets and Diversity Ownership Initiatives, achieving over 300 per cent of the company’s 2019 goal.
The newly-appointed CDO has become a recognised leader in domestic and international real estate, travel, and lodging, with experience resulting in more than $2.5 billion in real estate growth across multiple public and private platforms.
At Domio, Quinn’s expertise and leadership will support the brand as it aims to cement its position as a pioneer and disruptor in the hospitality industry. In his new role, he will oversee all aspects of the company’s expansion and development strategies, reporting directly to CEO and co-founder, Jay Roberts.
Roberts said of Quinn’s hiring: “Brian’s development experience is very impressive and we are thrilled to welcome him to the Domio team. As we continue to expand and develop our brand, Brian’s expertise and relationships will be invaluable. Domio is expanding domestically and internationally this year and together we will continue to deliver comfort, consistency, technology, and world-class design to revolutionise the apartment-hotel industry.”
Having accumulated a wealth of experience in the hotel and restaurant businesses in franchising, management, marketing, operations, finance and development, Quinn’s previous corporate associations include Red Lion Hotels, IHG, Driftwood Hospitality Management and Hilton Hotels. During his tenure there, Red Lion grew from 34 hotels to over 1,100 and at IHG he attracted over $1 billion in capital to its Crowne Plaza brand, making it the fastest growing upscale brand for three years in a row.
Quinn said: “Travel is changing and adapting and it will rebound as it always does. Domio has already made great strides to meet the shifting traveller needs by enhancing the consumer’s experience, while also offering a compelling business model for owners that delivers greater returns.
“I am looking forward to being a part of that change,” he added.
Quinn is also a board member of the Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association and trustee of St. Leo University, as well as a former board member of the American Hotel & Lodging and IHG’s Owners Association.
Domio recently launched its Domio Difference cleaning programme, which aims to bring safety and cleanliness to the forefront of the apart-hotel experience. In Miami, the company said it had already seen an increase in bookings as travel restrictions have eased, indicating that travellers are eager to return to their journeys and Domio is ready to host them.
Its latest projects include the opening of its Monte Carlo property in Miami Beach on 1 June and the signing of its Casa Libre property in Tulum, Mexico, its first international location.
