Denmark: edyn has signed an agreement with Danica Pension for the development of a 236-room Locke aparthotel in Postbyen, Copenhagen.

The development will overlook the city, with access to Copenhagen’s cultural and business destinations. The property will span two of Postbyen’s towers and is expected to be ready for occupancy in 2024.

Postbyen is a major new mixed-use development, with construction work underway. The city district, which is expected to be completed in 2023/2024, will include businesses, residential housing and hotels, as well as dining and retail at street level.

The development will be edyn’s first in Copenhagen, and will join other Locke properties under construction in London, Dublin, Lisbon and Berlin among others.

The 236 studio and one-bedroom apartments will be fully equipped with a kitchen and bathroom. The ground floor of the building will feature a restaurant, bar, café and lounge space.

Stephen McCall, CEO at edyn, formerly known as SACO, said: “We are delighted to be bringing our unique lifestyle aparthotel concept to Copenhagen, where we see a growing demand from sophisticated modern travelers for the experiences offered by Locke. The opening in Copenhagen is part of our ambitious expansion plans across Europe and we look forward to bringing our guests and the local community together in this exciting space.”

Robert V.S. Nellemann, head of property development at Danica Pension, said: “We are excited about the new agreement, which means that Postbyen will be able to provide an attractive offering for people staying in Copenhagen and looking for a concept that is mindfully designed, flexible and welcoming. With the new apartments, we aim to combine high quality with the local ambience in the upcoming city district in Postbyen.”

Danica Pension has been assisted by Bruun & Hjejle and PWC.
