Worldwide: Serviced apartment agent SilverDoor has appointed Karen Hutchings as strategic advisor, effective immediately.

As part of her work with new consultancy Cobb & Hutch, Hutchings will work with SilverDoor’s senior leadership team to support the company’s international growth strategy.

Hutchings previously led the EY global travel, meetings and events team for more than 11 years. Additional roles include former chair of the board of directors of the Institute of Travel Management.

She said:  “I was first introduced to SilverDoor and to its now CEO, Stuart, around 15 years ago and it has always been a company that I have admired. Their strong service mentality coupled with their in-house technology capabilities are both areas that I have always been focused on in my previous roles, so with the opportunity to share my expertise from a large corporate perspective, as well as my curiosity in technology, I hope can deliver huge value to SilverDoor. I am relishing the opportunity to work with them!”

Stuart Winstone, CEO of SilverDoor said: “SilverDoor has experienced significant global growth in the last eight years. As we look to continue this success in the future, we are keen to work with a trusted and practiced industry colleague who can offer a new perspective.

“Karen will bring the benefit of her formidable travel manager lens to our operations and our growth strategy, enabling us to align our offer even more closely with the needs and challenges that our clients – travellers, travel managers and buyers and relocation teams – all face. We have ambitious plans for growth and Karen will play an invaluable role in supporting how clients can diversify their accommodation strategies with a greater focus on serviced apartments and how this approach can help them build more robust travel programmes against the backdrop of significant changing market conditions – including the challenges of geopolitical change, meeting sustainability goals and capitalising on the opportunities presented by new technologies entering the market.”
