UK: Hospitality company InterContinental Hotels Group has signed a deal with development company Andras House for Staybridge Suites Belfast.
Due to open at the end of 2027, Staybridge Suites Belfast will feature 132 units in a new 13-storey development on Bedford Street.
Plans were revealed in 2019 for the aparthotel, with permission granted for the Bedford Yard project at the end of 2020.
The development will see the retention of the three terraced buildings facing onto Bedford Street with the new high-rise built behind.
It marks the debut in Ireland for the Staybridge Suites brand, which currently has 10 sites across Europe. The deal also forms part of IHG’s wider UK and Ireland expansion, which will see the group add more than 1,000 rooms across nine projects.
Willemijn Geels, VP development, Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts said: “Adding over 1,000 rooms through nine new signings is a great reflection of our investment in the UK&I market, and of the confidence of our owners in IHG, who continue to trust us to develop and open successful hotels with them.”
IHG signed the deal with Andras in October 2023 which represents the fourth partnership between the two companies.
Andras meanwhile has submitted a revised proposal to convert the former HMRC offices in Belfast into an Adagio aparthotel. The City Council is currently assessing the application.
