UK: Liverpool City Council planners have given the go ahead for the conversion of the Corn Exchange into an aparthotel, operated by Staycity.
The building on Brunswick Street, between Fenwick Street and Drury Lane, has been used for office space, but a planning application submitted by BJ 201 Limited and BJ 202 Limited says demand for office accommodation in the building is “extremely limited”.
Planning has been granted to convert the lower ground floor and floors two to eight from office use to 202 serviced apartments, comprising studio, one- and two-bedroomed units.
Staycity hopes to open the property in 2017.
