UK: Newcastle developer The Malhotra Group has submitted a planning application to convert a 19th century city centre building in to an aparthotel.

The Malhotra Group bought 1 Mosley Street last October, and plans to become one of the first to regenerate the East Pilgrim Street area by creating an aparthotel to partner with its nearby Grey Street Hotel.

The leisure, care and property group secured the building, formerly the offices for the GMB union, and plans to spend £7 million covering it into a range of 19 one- and two-bedroom apartments, three bars and a retail space.

The empty void between the building’s Pilgrim Street wall and the neighbouring property will be filled with a glass capsule lift which guests can use to reach the rooftop gardens and bar, which will have views across the city.
