Malaysia: Hotel management company ONYX Hospiality Group has debuted its Shama brand in Malaysia, located in Johor Bahru.
Shama Suasana Johor Bahru Residences has been repositioned from Suasana Suites Johor Bahru. It is located adjacent to the Zenith Lifestyle Centre and across from the shopping mall KOMTAR JBCC and City Square Johor Bahru.
The property features 87 suites equipped with kitchenettes and living areas. Accommodation ranges from one to three-bedroom apartments. On-site amenities include a fitness centre and a swimming pool.
Syed Ali Syed Othman, executive assistant manager of Shama Suasana Johor Bahru, said: “This rebranding reflects our dedication to creating a sophisticated living environment that meets the needs of visitors to Johor Bahru. We are committed to delivering unmatched comfort and convenience to our guests.”
It marks the second collaboration between ONYX and developer United Malayan Land Bhd (UMLand), following the launch of the five-star Amari Johor Bahru in 2017.
Malaysia also marks the first country outside of Thailand to host all three ONYX brands: Amari, OZO, and Shama.
The opening of Shama Suasana Johor Bahru closely follows the launch of Shama Hub Qiantang Hangzhou (China) in June this year.
ONYX on track to operate over 50 properties by 2025, with a target of 70 by 2028.
