UK: PBHH Ltd, owner of the Pendower Beach House Hotel, also known as the Pink Hotel in Cornwall, has revised its plans to now transform the property into a 23-room aparthotel.
Plans call for a two-storey aparthotel comprising 23 two and three-bedroom suites, a ground floor restaurant and cafe, staff accommodation, as well as a shop. At the centre of the project, a sixteenth century farmhouse would be restored and refurbished.
The entire site has been vacant for more than a decade. When complete, it would be aimed at families, couples, and retirees year-round.
An initial proposal, submitted in 2019, included a 14-bedroom boutique hotel alongside 25 residential apartments. PBHH said that its latest plans are 25 per cent smaller in scale.
Should the development go ahead, stabilisation work costing £1 million would be necessary to protect the road access to Pendower Beach and its slipway. Additional details included use of renewable energy, a new bat hibernaculum, sustainable drainage solutions, eco design features such as green roofs, and more.
Speaking at a publication consultation earlier this week, Johnny Goldsmith, founder of PBHH Ltd, said: “[Today] also allowed us to share details of the £25,000 Building Community Project Fund which will enable local groups or organisations to apply for funding towards works of value to local communities.
“We intend to set this up so that the funds provided can be allocated to good causes and charities chosen in association with representatives from the local council. This community initiative sits outside any planning obligations and would be set up once work on the regeneration of the Pendower Beach Hotel commences.”
