UK: Plans to turn an office building in Birmingham city centre into an aparthotel and “boutique hostel” have been lodged with the City Council.
Prosperity Capital, the developer behind the Globe Works scheme in Birmingham’s Gun Quarter, plans to transform St James House at 17 Horse Fair and add three floors to the building, which sits above the O2 Academy.
If consent is granted, the building will include 94 serviced aparthotel and 64 “boutique hostel” units in a scheme designed by Cartwright Pickard. Floors three to six will be used for the hostel, while floors seven to 11 will be serviced apartment suites.
The proposals include provisions to acoustically separate the upper storeys of St James House from the O2 Academy.</p
