Australia: Quest Geelong Central, an 87-room aparthotel located at 71-77 Gheringhap Street, has officially opened in Melbourne.
Work kickstarted on the property back in 2021. It forms part of a mixed-use Pivot House development, which includes ground floor retail spaces and 67 BTR apartments.
Developer Pellicano led the project will retain ownership of the Pivot House building, which was designed by Peddle Thorp and RPC Architects and built by Ireland Brown Construction.
Accommodation at Quest Geelong Central ranges from studio, one and two-bedroom apartments with balconies. Amenities include a rooftop gym, business lounge, conference room with capacity up to 40 people, BBQ areas and onsite parking.
James Shields, general manager – growth and capital strategy for Australia at Ascott, which owns the Quest brand, said: “Geelong has attractive short and long-term demand drivers in place for a second Quest property, particularly given the expanding local healthcare sector and upcoming Geelong Convention and Exhibition Centre precinct.”
Brendan Sanders, acting executive director at Tourism Greater Geelong and Bellarine, said: “We’re thrilled to be welcoming this internationally branded hotel to Geelong’s accommodation mix, strengthening our region’s vision in becoming a regional hub for domestic and international travel. The addition of the 87 self-contained apartments will have more visitors staying longer and exploring more of the exceptional experiences we have on offer in the region.”
Greg O’Shea and wife Linda Murray own Quest Geelong Central with existing franchisees Daniel and Jennifer Wilson and Mark and Ky O’Shea.
