UK: Marriott is set to open the Residence Inn Manchester Piccadilly in May this year, located in the centre of the city.
The aparthotel will have 155 studios and one-bedroom suites across 12 floors. The project was first announced in September 2019 and was planned to open in late 2020. Cycas Hospitality signed a deal to manage the property in 2019.
Over the past few years, the building has been operating as The Northern Quarters Service Apartments Manchester whilst undergoing a phased refurbishment. Rooms will include smart-TVs and a fully functional kitchen with microwaves, single ovens, two-ring hobs, refrigerators and dishwashers.
Other amenities include self-service communal laundry facilities, lounge areas, a coffee shop offering a grab-and-go service, a 24/7 gym, along with two retail spaces on the ground floor.
When complete, it will mark the first extended-stay property in the north of England for Marriott. It will join four other Residence Inns, located in London and Scotland.
Mustapha Henini, general manager at Residence Inn Manchester Piccadilly, said: “We are incredibly excited for the opening of Residence Inn in Manchester Piccadilly. This city is inviting, and our new hotel offers the perfect space for those looking for a spacious stay.”
Manchester has recently become the first city in the UK to introduce a tourist tax, meaning visitors are now charged an additional £1 per night on their accommodation. 73 serviced apartments and hotels located in the city centre and Salford have signed up to the scheme.
