UK: Real estate investor and developer Lamington Group is set to open its room2 hometel brand in Belfast on 16 October 2023.

The 175-room property is located on the corner of Queen Street and College Street. It has been developed by Oakland Holdings with £20 million invested into the project.

Rooms feature fully-fitted kitchens and a separate living space. Interconnecting options are also available.

Amenities include a pet-friendly bar and cafe on the ground floor, four event spaces, a gym, and a laundry room.

In line with the aim of becoming a net zero brand, the room2 Belfast property is fully electric with 100 per cent of the building’s embodied carbon rebalanced to zero on completion. 100 per cent of its operational carbon will also be rebalanced to zero on an annual basis.

Its design spec has followed the WELL building principles, which includes measuring air quality, ensuring sufficient daylight and thermal comfort, as well as biophilic elements.

To educate guests, the hotel will feature a sustainability wall explaining all the features and technology taking place within the property. An on-site team will also host regular sustainability workshops for guests and locals.

Michelle Thomas, Lamington Group’s new openings manager, said: “We are so excited to expand our portfolio and open our biggest hometel to date in the vibrant city of Belfast. We want our hometel to provide a place of comfort for both locals and tourists, further making our mark in the hometel sector of the hospitality industry.”

The Belfast property joins room2 sites in Hammersmith, Chiswick and Southampton. Additional UK locations include York, Glasgow and Manchester.

IHM will host Recharge 2024 at room2 Belfast, 22nd-23rd January. Expect property tours on day one with a full-day agenda spanning presentations, discussions and workshops on day two. Further information can be found here
