UK: Birmingham’s Staying Cool at the Rotunda is launching a competition for ten people to be wined and dined in a penthouse apartment.
The competition opens tomorrow, Tuesday 29th May, and the meal will take place on Thursday, June 21st.
Five winners – and their guests – will enjoy a menu created by chef Alex Claridge, founder of The Wilderness restaurant, and described as one of Birmingham’s hottest culinary talents. The ten guests will enjoy one of his creative menus plus matched drinks on one of the longest nights of the year, giving them time to enjoy the expansive views across the city over a ten-course dinner.
Gavin Burns, general manager of Staying Cool at the Rotunda, said: “It is going to be a very special occasion. Alex is one of Birmingham’s most creative chefs offering his unique blend of playful and provocative food. We’re thrilled to have him back at Rotunda.”
The competition is part of CreativeHeights, a series of events celebrating Staying Cool’s tenth anniversary in Birmingham.
Claridge was asked to take part in Creative Heights as he has worked with the Staying Cool team for many years, as executive chef. He develops the menus for Staying Cool’s DIY dining offer, Cooking Cool, and his Wilderness team can also be booked for private dining at the Rotunda. The Wilderness ran exclusive dining events at the Rotunda earlier in 2018 including a series featuring MasterChef the Professionals finalist Louisa Ellis.
Claridge said: “Staying Cool at the Rotunda is one of the most memorable places I’ve cooked. It will be a pleasure to help celebrate such a milestone with a team that I consider friends as well as colleagues. There is no better nor warmer interpretation of what hospitality should mean.”
The competition will be run from 29th May to 12th June. To enter go to stayingcool.com/tenth/wildernesscomp from May 29th.
