UK: Staying Cool at Rotunda has won the Best Hospitality Business award at the 2019 Birmingham Post Business Awards.

The property beat The ICC (International Convention Centre) and Edgbaston Cricket Stadium, and was rewarded for its Creative Heights events programme.

The judges were looking for businesses that facilitate exceptional events and/or corporate hospitality.

To celebrate its 10th anniversary at Rotunda, Staying Cool ran a year-long series of cultural events under the Creative Heights banner.

In the past year, Staying Cool’s serviced apartments hosted activities as diverse as Poetry in the Penthouse with Writing West Midlands, pop-up restaurants with The Wilderness, a film screening of High Rise with The Electric, an acoustic set with Songwall and a press interview with Nobel Laureate Malala Yousafzai as well as a Santa’s Grotto for Birmingham Children’s Hospital among others.

Managing director Tracey Stephenson said: “Our win is testament to the fact that a small serviced apartment business can successfully compete against big companies. We have a very creative, talented team and they relish the challenge of coming up with exciting events that fit with our brand and location. We would like to thank all of the businesses and charities who have partnered with us. Special thanks go to Independent Birmingham who nominated us for the award.”

The judges were Marc Reeves and Sarah Pullen of Reach PLC, Lucy Fardy of Barclays and Neil Philpott of PWC.

Chair of the judging panel Marc Reeves said: “Our finalists come from an incredibly wide range of sectors and from businesses large and small but what they all have in common is that spark of brilliance from which we can all take inspiration. Their stories of creativity, persistence – sheer hard work – are examples that we can
all learn from.”</p
