UK: Supercity Aparthotels has announced that it is expanding into Leeds.

The new Leeds aparthotel, scheduled to launch in 2023, will be located on the previous site of the Jubilee Hotel, a Grade II-listed building, on the Headrow.

Incorporating approximately 55 apartments, including a range of studio, one- and two-bedroom units, and a gym, the building will have an extension built on the corner of East Parade street.

It follows Supercity’s announcement in June that it had secured a new site in York, which will also open in 2023, complementing the company’s existing portfolio of four aparthotels in London, and one each in Manchester and Brighton respectively.

Roger Walters, founder and chairman of Supercity Aparthotels, said: “We have secured a beautiful building in a great location and will tastefully blend the best of old and new as we embark on this project. We look forward to bringing our stylish hallmark interiors and warm service to the vibrant city of Leeds.”

Walters previously spoke to SAN in December 2020 about how a £10 million equity investment in the company would help it to double its portfolio by 2025.

Founding partner of Starboard Hotels and CEO of SafeStay PLC, Philip Houghton, was also appointed to the role of managing director to support the company’s growth.

Last week, Supercity Aparthotels secured two accolades at the 2021 Serviced Apartment Awards, organised by International Hospitality Media [IHM] at the Chelsea Harbour Hotel in London, firstly taking home the award for its Q Square property in the Best Property 21 to 70 units category, and then claiming the Profit with Purpose award.
