UK: Plans have been submitted to Perth & Kinross Council to transform Dunkeld guesthouse Tay House into serviced apartments.
The owner of Tay House, Michael Smith, has lodged a proposal to transform the property into serviced holiday apartments and events venue.
Currently operating as a guesthouse, Tay House offers eight en-suite bedrooms, three apartments, a lounge and bar, private dining room and kitchen, a gun and locker room, a rear courtyard and a car park.
Rooms are available to book individually or the entire property can be exclusively hired.
According to the plans by Urban Rural Design, the existing internal structure and layout of the guesthouse will remain the same.
If plans are approved, an additional cabin would be installed outside the car park space to host events. It will offer a covered seating area supported by a coffee kiosk/bar as well as a pizza and food kiosk.
Smith said: “In September 2016, we started a full renovation as [the property] was in a bad state. It had been used as staff accommodation for 25 years so it was pretty run down. We then soft-launched [Tay House] in 2019.
“We want to diversify the business… It will be a nice addition as there is not a lot of accommodation in the village. It will be complimentary to the area and provide more choice for visitors.”
Public commentary on the application is open until 16 August 2024 before a decision is made by the council.
