Australia: Remedial work has started on the site of a proposed serviced apartment scheme in Kinghorne Street, Nowra.

The $10 million four-storey block of 41 serviced apartments will be situated on the site of a former car showroom. Plans for the project were approved last December and will also include a block in Plunkett Street.

Developer Ai Group was granted planning permission by Shoalhaven City Council in December, but the Joss Group has since taken over the development. It will consist of a single one-bedroom apartment, 37 two-bedroom units and three three-bedroom apartments. The development will also include one retail unit and basement car parking for 55 cars.

Work is underway on the removal of concrete and petrol tanks. This will be followed by demolition of existing buildings and digging of footings. Construction is expected to take around a year.
