International Hospitality Media, the publisher of SAN, has teamed up with HOFTEL to present a content stream at the Gulf and Indian Ocean Hotel Investors’ Summit 2019.
The event, which takes place on February 4 and 5 at the Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel and Villas, will include an afternoon devoted to looking at the “broader hospitality universe” – serviced apartments, hotel-branded residences, timeshare, hostels and the sharing economy, all chaired by the publisher of Serviced Apartment News, IHM CEO Piers Brown.
The Summit will also feature a networking reception at the spectacular Louvre Abu Dhabi, kindly hosted by the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism and the launch of the Investor Challenge, where delegates will pit their wits against some of the region’s leading hotel investors in evaluating a range of scenarios.
Sessions will include:
• Will serviced apartments protect owners from the downturn?
• Can hotel-branded residences move from luxury into the mid-market?
• As brands start to work with private owners, are they still real partners of hotel real estate investors?
• With so much supply, does a hospitality component still work to anchor a mixed use scheme?
Piers Brown said: “We’re delighted to team up with Simon Allison and his team at GIOHIS to present what will be a fascinating look beyond the conventional hotel market to the rapidly growing hospitality offers which are proliferating both here in the MEA and globally. Having hosted the Serviced Apartment Summit MEA event for the last three years, the SAN team has seen the opportunities and challenges which abound in this region, and we’re very much looking forward to meeting operators, developers and owners at GIOHIS. We’re also delighted to announce that Serviced Apartment Summit MEA will return to Dubai in November 2019, with the support of HOFTEL.”
Simon Allison, the CEO of HOFTEL, the global hotel owners’ association which organises GIOHIS, said: “GIOHIS is unique in covering the entire Indian Ocean region, in having truly hard-hitting discussions on issues of importance to hospitality real estate investors (who make up no less than half of our speakers) and in offering all of this at a highly competitive price. We are delighted to be supported this year by the Abu Dhabi DCT, Abu Dhabi National Hotels and Aldar and believe this will be the best GIOHIS yet.”
