UK: Dominic Sherry, CEO of serviced apartment operator Viridian Apartments, will step down from his role on 31 December 2025, with COO Bala Balasubramaniam appointed as managing director from January 2026.
Sherry has served as CEO of Viridian Apartments (owned by investment manager Rasmala) for more than five years. During his time, he oversaw the launch of the company’s build-to-rent brand Mura Living.
Prior to Viridian, Sherry spent 25 years with Marriott and held various roles with the company including sales, marketing, and general manager positions.Â
Bala Balasubramaniam, current chief operating officer at Viridian Apartments, will take on the role of managing director, effective 1 January 2026.Â
In an email to industry partners, Sherry said: “My time with Viridian Apartments has been a wonderful and fulfilling experience, even though we have travelled through some pretty difficult times during my tenure.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Zak Hydari and the Rasmala senior leadership team in Dubai for their full support and belief in me as we built an organisation for the future together. I’d also like to recognise and thank my wonderful Viridian team whom I will sincerely miss. I really cannot be more-proud of every single one of them.
“As many of you know, Bala has been with Viridian Apartments/Flying Butler Apartments for over 10 years and is the perfect person to take the company to new and exciting heights. I will continue to serve on the Viridian Apartments board as a non-executive director in 2026 and beyond, to fully support Bala, our wonderful Viridian team and the strategic direction of the company.”
