Thailand: ONYX Hospitality Group is set to broaden the footprint of its serviced apartment brand, Shama, by launching five new properties across Asia.

The new properties comprise two in China including Hong Kong, two in Malaysia, and one in Thailand, all scheduled to open in 2024.

ONYX says current trends, such as favourable visa policies for extended business stays and the rise of bleisure travel, are fuelling the demand for serviced apartments.

Yuthachai Charanachitta, CEO of ONYX Hospitality Group, said: “Shama, managed under ONYX Hospitality Group, embodies the concept of ‘Freedom to Explore.’ Our goal is to inspire residents to venture out, embrace the city’s vibrancy, and enjoy a fulfilling life, even in an unfamiliar place, without the sense of loneliness.”

Each Shama property in Bangkok features the Shama Social Club, a “vibrant hub uniting global travellers. This inclusive community facilitates seamless transitions and fosters meaningful connections with the local culture.”

ONYX currently operates 16 Shama locations, including six in Thailand, six in Hong Kong, and four in China.
